Anxiety and OCD
My history
I remember being around 8 or 9 when I first had these weird thoughts about taking my clothes of the hangers in the closet and then putting them back on. After a while I found myself doing this, sometimes for what seemed like an hour, taking clothes off the hanger and then putting them back on. About a year later our parents were divorced and I remember not being able to thinking about anything else except getting them back together. These were not thoughts I sometimes got, they were there all the time. This brought on extreme anxiety.
By the time I was 15, I was seeing a therapist and on medication. My friends had no idea I was having problems, in fact the only one who really knew was my sister and my mom to some extent.

I tried various types of treatments, including being hypnosis. I went through one presription after another and I have been on Prozac, Clomipramine, Paxil, you name it.

I was losing hope. Finally I tried looking on the internet. I stayed away from the regular therapists, since I have gone to about 5 or 6 over the years and not one had helped me.

I began emailing and calling different places. Here is what I tried and who I had for consideration.
First I tried some of the tape programs. I really listened to them and they did help me, but not enough
I even tryied a software program (when you are desperate, you will try anything.
Brightlife Anxiety Center - the guy there was a bit pushy and they were way to expensive.
There was an Anxiety Release Center I called and they made huge promises that they could cure me in just a few hours. I didn't buy that.
I did go with Designed Thinking and that was one of the best things I had ever done for myself. It took a little longer than expected, but I got results and that was all I wanted. The entire work was done on the phone and we spoke twice a week, an hour at a time. I worked with Michael Arndt, who is not only knowledgable, but was a pleasure to work with. I did a total of 32 hour long sessions. Along the way I found out alot about myself and alot on how much I can change. While the other hypnosis had not worked, Michael did some on me, along with something call Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). Don't ask me to describe it> I can tell you that you will be forced to think about things you had never thought about before in your life.
It has now been about 5 months and I have been free of my obsessive thoughts and my anxiety seems to be undercontrol. I still get stressed at work if I have to much to do, but then so does every one else in our office.

I am covinced that if I can change, most people should be able to also. I didn't mention my phobia about being left alone, which is also now gone.
